
Popcorn 2007
The main fundraiser of our Pack is selling popcorn
once a year. This fundraiser helps to cover the Pack's expenses
that are not covered by the Pack dues. the boys can earn prizes for
selling popcorn. As an additional incentive the Pack gives half of
the Pack's profit (1/2 of 37% = 18.5%) back to the boy's scout
accounts. So 18.5% of all take order sales will be credited to
their scout accounts. The Pack also divides half of the profit from
the Show & Sell sales. A new incentive this year is that if the
Pack sells more popcorn than last year, then the Pack will get a $50
bonus plus a 3% commission bonus on all sales above last year's
sales. Another incentive is that if the Pack averages $225 per boy
then the Pack will get a Pizza party.
We would like to have every scout set a goal of
$225 which means selling about 16 items. If a boy sells $225 then
that will cover their Pack dues. If a boy wants to cover their
Scout Camp, then they will need to sell over $1,160. If a boy sells
$1,500 then they get an additional $50 gift card. If they sell
$2,500 then they are entered into the Trail's End Scholarship fund.
The first year the boys earn an additional 6% (at least $150) which
is put in a Trail's End account. The money earns interest every
year and every year thereafter that a boy sells popcorn (even if it
less than $2,500) the boy will earn an 6% on their popcorn sales.
The scouts can start selling popcorn now. The
order forms will be available at the August and September pack
meetings. If the scouts want the order forms before the next pack
meeting or misses the next pack meeting, the best way for them to
get them is to download the order form at

(.pdf). Most of the items are listed below, but there are two items
not listed below. The first is a 2.5 lb tin of pure,
non-microwaveable (old fashion) popcorn which sells for $8. It is
not on the order form, so make another column on the order form if
you sell any. The second "item" is a customer can pay $25 for
popcorn that will be sent directly to military personnel and their
families. This item is on the order form. Both of these items
count toward prizes.
Remember that the scouts have to sell
popcorn with a buddy or parent and that they should sell popcorn in
their class A uniforms.
"Show and Sell" events are scheduled to sell
popcorn at various locations. Time slots are 90 minutes starting
with 7:00am to 8:30, 8:30 to 10:00, 10:00 to 11:30, 11:30 to 1:00pm,
and 1:00 to 2:30 on Saturdays and 10:00 to 11:30, 11:30 to 1:00pm,
and 1:00 to 2:30 on Sundays. If we need to add more time slots
then I will, but I need to fill the slots in a continuous order so
that there are not breaks. Most of the time slots at Holy
Family will be after the Mass, but we will also need some people to
watch the popcorn during masses. There will be a sign up sheet at
the Pack meetings, but you can also send an email directly to John

with the time slots you want.
We will need to have three scouts per time slot
with a minimum of two parents.
